Anastasia Beverly Hills
Anastasia Beverly Hills began with just an eyebrow line and has been growing and adding products to be a full rounded cosmetic brand. I am not ashamed to say after trying 16 different black lippies last October, Anastasia's formula for a traditional black stick lipstick was one of my favorites and most comfortable to wear. I wanted to try more of the sticks, so when a deal popped up in my e-mail I was stoked to grab up these colors I had been humming and hawing about for a while. In addition to having great eyeshadow palettes, ABH also has empty 4 or 8 well palettes you can build your own, often then getting a discount on the set. These also are handy to pop in and out colors as you like and I am a huge, huge fan of palettes like this. You can also use the pans in your own palette.
Okay well let's get swatching.
Below from left to right: Dead Roses, Resin, Insomniac, Griffin. You may notice I picked two colors rather similar, I love them both! I couldn't do just one, even though they are so close Resin is on the warm side and Griffin on the cooler. Same reason you may have what looks like a drawer of just red lipstick, you know there's a huge difference between classic red and bombshell red.
These lipstick formulas are very comfortable for me to wear and go on rather opaque as you can see over my lil' fishy tattoo below.
Build your own dream palette, no more liking just one or two colors. Refillable palettes and buying pans are more green friendly, there is less packaging overall that is harder to recycle. These still come packaged in paper and plastic, but well, it's less and you can simply buy a refill of your favorite color vs. the additional waste of another palette or compact.
Some ABH shadows are more pigmented than others, as in some are very very pigmented, so until you know your colors I recommend using a light hand and trying just a little at first. Noir is one of those, darkening and blending colors with just a touch, it's great. Bone I have noticed is a great base color, when layering another color on top it can effect that color, so blend it out well before adding that top color to make it a lil' easier. I've tried these eight plus another four and a platte from ABH so far for eyeshadows and they have all blended well, nice coverage and have pretty consistent formulas making them easy to work with.
For my look I started with Bone under my brow bone and blending it out and down from there. Used Dusty Rose as a base from lash line to crease. Starting at my outer crease I tapped on Love Letter, and then brushed it over the whole crease before blending out and up. With a thin flat brush I carefully tapped Love Letter along my lower lash line from the outside in about 2/3 the way. Next I used Noir from outer crease, just a touch blending it in, up and out. With a round flat brush I swiped or patted metallic Venice on top focussing layering it most on in the outer middle of my lid and then in the inner corders.
To finish the look I used ABH's Dipbrow Pomade in Ebony and a few of the colors from the Moonchild Glow Kit before testing out the lipsticks.
Thank you for playing makeup with me! I hope you enjoyed your visit makeup land, please remember your shoes and jacket before leaving.
Love you Beauty Bat,
