Makeup Geek n' theBalm
Today I'm throwing two brands together for more of a full face as I had yet to try Makeup Geek's eyeshadows, plus had recently received my new lippies from theBalm after using up all I had previously purchased from them while Visiting SF last year.
Makeup Geek is probably one of the better known indie cruelty free eyeshadow brands, and I finally treated myself to my dream palette from them, where you build your own 9-well MG branded palette. They sell all their shadows as pans, perfect for putting into your own palette or theirs. They also sell single pan blushes, and since I felt I was in "need" of new blushes I picked up a few to try.
theBalm specializing in timeless products with velvety textures, offering premium products at accessible pricing, their formulas are richly pigmented with anti-aging ingredients are also talc and paraben free. I've tried many of their products and have found them very easy and comfortable to wear, but their lippes are my go to for a comfy lip and I had recently received these from using up the ones I had bought while visiting, San Francisco, CA, where their flagship store is a short walk to the Mission Dolores Cemetery, which I highly recommend for a glam and grave play day!
I had a "Me day" while my partner was off with her family I treated myself to a bit of a makeover at theBalm for my Bday, a mocha, and a visit to the Mission Dolores Cemetery, which is also a rose garden, combining most of my favorite things in one. What else is a glam ghoul to ask for? (O, maybe also horror movie action figures from Super7 which you can pass on your walk too.)
Below: My lil' dream Palette from MG but you can build your own custom shadow palette or buy single pans from both Makeup Geek and theBalm!
I picked out six blush pans, and swatched them a little lights, as they are blush and do not plan to use them as thick as shadows. (HeheheI love swatching on my koi tattoo, allows me to see how transparent cosmetics are, how they work with black, my staple and I take a bit of humor in putting makeup on them).
theBalm's lipsticks are nicely pigmented, and one of my top favorites, and go to for comfort, their only drawback for me is that they are more classic/vintage colorations which does go with their pin-up vibe, but personally I usually tend to use everything BUT reds. However, when I do want a pink, or red, these are the tubes I usually reach for. Something also about their packaging, branding they just make me feel cute and flirty.
Now for the face! Below I used my MG Palette on my eyes, with White Lies under my brow bone, Vintage under my waterline, and blending out my lid, Taboo and Concrete jungle competing for my crease, and Limelight stealing the show at my inner corner.
Blush is Spellbound with a touch of Love Letter near the back/at contour line.
Face contour is my usual from LunatiCK, with Smashbox

This face with an Affectionate Lip
Or this face with a Dedicated Lip?
Same face two lips, but I still find it remarkable how a lip has the power to change the whole look. Dedicated looks more vibrant, everything looks bright, for an energized day while the same look with the Affectionate lip, looks more subtle with a small pop of color in my eye shadow, great for a mellow calm day.
Be sure to check out these two brand on their own sites to learn more, and view all their offerings.

Love you Beauty Bat,
K. Just a reminder: I purchased these products with my own funds, no affiliation, this post is purely of my own opinion and experience.
